In 2012, shortly after commencing construction on The Cooperage, a 22-storey multi-residential building in 2011 located on the 12-acre development project known as The Barrel Yards, Stonerise Construction began building The Onyx North.

Located adjacent to The Cooperage, The Onyx North and its sister tower The Onyx South is comprised of two 26-storey point tower buildings built on a two-storey, 22,000 square foot podium, which houses an extensive list of amenities. Each tower contains 177 suites with contemporary upgraded finishes and extensive windows for corner suites. The common areas and amenities are designed with a contemporary and sophisticated art deco feel and include a fitness facility, yoga room, card room, billiards room, business centre, lounges and a podium rooftop terrace complete with an outdoor pool and sauna.

The Barrel Yards development includes six large multi-unit residential buildings, the Delta Waterloo hotel, long-term care residence and an office tower complex in Uptown Waterloo across from Waterloo and  Silver Lake Park. This large interconnected project includes over 1,300 apartments, live-work units, a park and an underground parking garage with 2,400 spaces, a challenging multi-phased project.
